Hoodia Clinical Trials

Hoodia Clinical Trials

It is true that more research on Hoodia and more clinical trials are necessary to discover the effectiveness of Hoodia. Meanwhile, the Phytopharm clinical trials are a good starting point. Follows a description of the first hoodia clinicaltrial done by the Phytopharm company.

So the drug’s potential speaks for itself.

Phytopharm’s Dr Richard Dixey explained how P.57 actually works: “There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus. Within that mid-brain there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar.

“When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the food, these cells start firing and now you are full. “What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000 times as active as glucose.

Hoodia Clinical Trials 1

Hoodia Clinical Trials

There are frequent statements that hoodia has no clinical trials, that hoodia hasn´t clinically been proved or so. There is a strong misconception.

Surely, as any new natural product, it takes years to conduct serious research and perform clinical trials. If we compare hoodia research or hoodia clinical trials with aloe research or aloe clinical trials (a plant into the same family and with same origins), it is obvious that aloe show a completely different situation. But such a difference is explained because aloe has more than 50 years of continous research. We wil see more hoodia clinical trials in the years to come. Absolutely.

But the first hoodia clinical trials are not the Phytopharm clinical trials, as usually cited. The first hoodia clinical trials, started with the CSIR research team at South Africa back in the 90s. Such research is the base for the claims made under the patent 6376657 filed at the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in 1999, and granted to a group of CSIR researchers headed by Van heerden and others.

There, at the final of the patent full document is a statement reading as follows:
