Hoodia is Doctor Recommended

Why the hoodia gordonii is doctor recommended?

The Hoodia Gordonii (not other hoodia varieties) is doctor recommended because is the only hoodia that contains the all-natural appetite suppressant. When it was researched first by CSIR and then by Phytopharm, it was discovered that this type of hoodia contains a molecule (then named as P57) that has similar effects on nerve cells as glucose, giving the brain the sensation of fullness. It has an appetite suppression effect.

The Hoodia Gordonii is a totally natural product, just because it is a succulent plant which is dehydrated and milled. Hoodia does not contain caffeine or ephedra. It is not a drug, just a natural product. A dietary supplement. And that is the reason Hoodia Gordonii diet pills does not fail into FDA regulations.

In the original BBC interview which launched Hoodia Gordonii to the Hall of fame, Phytopharm's Dr. Richard Dixey explained how P57 works:

"There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus. Within that mid-brain there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar. When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the food, these cells start firing and now you are full. What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000 times as active as glucose. It goes to the mid-brain and actually makes those nerve cells fire as if you were full. But you have not eaten. Nor do you want to."
