It is important consumers search for well credited sites, mostly belonging to governmental agencies, or non commercial and/or non profit organizations, not related to any pharmaceutical or herbal manufacturer, hoodia wholesaler, hoodia reseller or hoodia affiliate, because most of hoodia report sites, hoodia comparison sites or similar Hoodia alert sites are developed, maintained or sponsored in several ways by hoodia manufacturers, hoodia wholesalers, hoodia resellers and hoodia affiliates.

Several comparison sites or blogs with extensive information about different hoodia brands are owned or financed by hoodia companies. "... In order to see for ourselves, we drove into the desert, four hours north of Capetown in search of the cactus.

Once there, we found an unattractive plant which sprouts about 10 tentacles, and is the size of a long cucumber.

Each tentacle is covered in spikes which need to be carefully peeled.

Inside is a slightly unpleasant-tasting, fleshy plant.
